is your best friend an older sibling?
i was just daydreaming just now when somehow i discovered that alot of my close friends are the older/oldest sibling in the family. i don't think it's a coincidence, but rather it's the attractiveness of their character. usually i find them more easygoing and open to new experiences. they aren't stingy with their material possessions or affections, they do share and care, and they certainly aren't the kind to nit-pick (unless, of course, they are taught to nit-pick). they are more willing to forgive, they still love you after seeing all your boo-boos, and they have no problems making fun of themselves.
maybe its how much their younger siblings have irritated them, the countless times they are asked to 'keep an eye on your younger brother' and 'make sure your baby sister doesn't cry', the attempts to make funny faces so that the younger kids will smile. the oldest sibling is trained not to take things too hard, not to fight for stupid reasons, and discovers the joy in making someone's day. of course as per everything there are exceptions- older siblings who act like they own the world, are insensitive to other people's feelings, think too highly of themselves and think they are always right. just because they are the older one.
not to be biased against people who are the youngest in the family or are the only child, but chances are that they receive more pampering and have their way more often. usually. they might not know as well what it means to tolerate differences, to share and to forgive.
does that mean they make lousy friends?

feeling as light as a feather
ahhhhhhh.............. i feel like the holidays are here although i still have one more paper. am already thinking of the coming family holiday, chionging for amore classes and for zouk, meeting up with friends, and spending time with Mike without worrying about school stuff. as for the one more paper, i intended to start today. but i didn't. the thing is, i opted for a satisfactory/ unsatisfactory grade for this paper, meaning that it's either a pass or a fail. and this paper only constitutes 35% of the whole grade, the rest being projects and homework (all group work!! =D) which have been handed in. so you see why i'm not pressured to start studying. BUT, i haven't attended lectures for half the semester, so i totally dunno what's going on. bleh. i better start tmr. AND, my dad is on leave already, and this means that he will be going out with my mum alot, and they will ask me if i wanna go out with them. GRRRR. temptations.got an external hard disk drive today when my dad and bro went to some IT fair at Suntec. 300gbs! imagine all the crap i can put inside -grins-. i just hope that isn't my birthday present... or is it? :S anyhow, no more fear of having my comp crash on me! even if it crashes, i'll have back-up ready on hand!! NYEHHHEHHEH. dad also bought a camcorder so we could take videos on our holiday :)i spent yesterday with Mike :) had lunch at his place, then we slept the afternoon away. i was damn tired after mugging for my paper that took place earlier in the morning. after we woke up (well after i woke up and spent half an hour trying to wake him up) we went over to Marina Square and agonised over what to eat. felt like trying Carl's Jr's huge burgers, but it was really crowded and i wanted a quieter place. finally decided on Changing Appetites. it's actually quite good! reasonable prices and interesting food (jap-western fusion). i had 'Tender Loving Beef". so cute right the name. it's sliced beef pasta with teriyaki and black pepper sauce. real tasty. yumyum. Mike had "Dynamite Chicken", and we shared a lychee ice blended drink. quite a nice meal. i'd go there again! their gelato mudpies are supposedly the highlights and they come in 10 different flavours! i can forsee myself getting fat. actually Marina Square has ALOT of restaurants. i'm guessing it'll be my favourite place to eat at soon!after which we wanted to go to Esplanade Bay where we like to take walks... but somehow we strolled towards Fullerton Hotel and then along the river, and sat by it and talked into the night. i really really enjoyed the day. it was simple but the lovely kind of simple :)

breaking into hysterics
i can't seem to concentrate! help...! i've been staring at the same powerpoint slides the whole morning. :( nothing seems to go in. and the paper is tmr. 100mcqs. it's not as bad as essays but its just gonna make me dizzy towards the end. i'm not so worried about this paper though. i'm worried about the one on sat!! BUILDING STRUCTURES. omg it's the most horrifying module i've got to date. cos it involves PHYSICS. and i haven't taken PHYSICS since SEC4. i feel damn retarded every time i attempt questions on structures, cos i haven't got an inkling of wad's going on. on top of that, i didn't study for the mid term test, and that's 20% of my overall grade gone already. OH NO OH NO OH NO i don't wanna retake the module.

surf and turf
i am so sick of doing my exam readings man. i swear architects are mad in one way or another. either they are too romantic, or they are too indirect, or they're pure arrogant, or simply they can't be bothered to make clear their intentions. bahs. save meeeeeee..in a desperate bid to alleviate my boredom, i surfed blogs. some blogs are extremely narcissictic, some are impossibly naive and idealistic (oh the world is such a lovely place i love you you love me and how can i not possibly love everything around me), some sound like they're possessed. there are really provoking and inspiring writers out there as well. i have read some blogs of people in the sex industry (not sex blogs, but everyday blogs of people who work as porn actresses or prostitutes) and these blogs surprisingly display much more sensibility and courage as compared to people who care about nothing else except for how boring their day is or how their friend's friend's cousin's sister's brother-in-law's dog's pregnancy is coming along. frankly i enjoy reading airy blogs as much as the deeper ones, because their ludicrousness makes me laugh. one of my all time favourite blogs is still one of my best friends Monica's one, because she is not afraid to be silly, happy, bitchy, sweet, sad or angry. her entries are witty and she can laugh at herself. go read her piece of writing on 'what's blue to me'. it's great!

wow
i am speechless. Mike came over at 12am. it goes something like this:'hello dear''hey. u busy? i was going to sleep already. why zit so noisy?''so early? how come? oh the television's on.''well i'm trying to turn my body clock back so i can study for my exams..''hmm...wad if i just turned up with a cupcake now?''huh.''like in 10 minutes..if i come over u gonna sleep and not let me in?''dear are you kidding me. are you on your way.''wad do u think?'*disbelief*'seriously. are u like coming over?''hmm..''mike...!!'and this 'are you kidding me' business goes on for a couple of minutes.10 minutes later he is at my place with a BK chicken sandwich, a bottle of sugar cane and chestnut drink (less sugar too!), a choc chip muffin, a sugarfree lollipop (great!) and a little box of guylian belgian twists. he is trying to ruin my efforts in losing weight, but i love him for this sweet gesture :) he's just got home now. i can't tell you how much better he's made my week.

de-volution!
had the chance to perform for my faculty's annual Alumni dinner on saturday. it was fun fun fun!!! i haven't had the chance to go on stage for soooooo long, i can't even remember the last time i did (not including the pavilion opening, that was an informal thing). it felt good to experience the booming music and flashing stage lights again, just like the good ol' times :) our item was a combination of the 70's, 80's and 90's cultures, so it was neon coloured agogo followed by the leg-warmer era of street jazz and then some funky hiphop. i'm still so happy about it hahaa. too bad i don't have pictures of the performance but here are some dressing room pics!

the Agogo Girls. so orbiang right the skirt. the item tickled some of the guests it seemed. esp the older ones. haha

transformation into hiphop!

i feel very free
even though the exams are nearing, i haven't touched the books and don't feel the urge to do. maybe it's the "design zaps all of my energy so i deserve to slack and pamper myself for the next 2 blardy weeks" mentality. oh ho. i forgot to tell you exams are in the next 2 blardy weeks too. i think i will start...maybe monday?? hahaaa. for the time being, let's admire my beautiful piece of work. (it is only beautiful cos i just finished it. i never like my work after awhile.)
Aerial view.

Approach.

Close up of my garrrrden.

OHHH. i bought my new love yesterday. cost a bomb, but i'm perfectly happy about it. TADAAAA! meet my new green thing. *GRINS*

swiped it off someone's blog
| Your Birthdate: December 3 |
You are more than a big ball of energy - you are a big ball of hyper. You are always on the go, but you don't have a type a personality.Instead of channeling your energy into work, you instead go for fun and adventure.Witty and verbal, you can have an interesting conversation with anyone. Your strength: Your larger than life imagination Your weakness: You tend to be pretty scattered Your power color: Lime Your power symbol: Lightening bolt Your power month: March |
the part about channeling energy meant for work into fun is so true. haha..

my alter ego
why can't i speak my mind.
it happened, and now it's happening again. i need to get my thoughts across, without clamming up and shutting down. without fighting back tears when i don't need to shed them. i don't want to build a wall between me and my world.
i hate that side of me.

pre-submission blues
it's 14 hours to submission. strangely i don't feel panicked or short of breath, trying to churn out panels like a printing machine. spent the last 3 days drafting THREE hand drawn panels. i feel so unproductive. still have a coupla sketches to do, but my sketching sucks... and i'm still thinking of how to go about doing it. thanks to mommy for helping me dot my landscape (there must be a million dots in there. my hand felt like cramping man.) and dear mike for helping me trace titles and headings :) so nice of them. darling's back in camp, and i only get to see him next friday. sigh. taking a break from work now. feel nauseous from staring at paper and ink already. i feel like sleeping. i think i will be able to sleep for 5 or 6 hours tonight. which is amazing. the first time i will be sleeping the night before submission. and for FIVE OR SIX HOURS. hahaaa. so wad if i'm feeling yaya. hur? well i was lazy to develop my design so i started production early. so maybe the downside will be that the tutors will critisize the lack of design process. but so what. i get to sleep. and that is of utmost importance. heh heh.Monnie, will u pluck my eyebrows for me?
